Hi Everyone! I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Christmas yesterday, and everyone who doesn't had a great Friday!
Today I just want to take the time to urge everyone to go back and answer some questions from days past. There are a whole bunch that nobody's talked about yet, and it would be great to get the conversation going. Jump in! Be the first to talk about something! If you do, I'll give you a cookie.
As for a new question for today - what is your band's relationship with the audience like? Do you have fans beyond you family and friends? How do you interact with the people who come to your shows?

I believe that bands with younger members (under 30) tend to have more friends and family in their audience than bands with older members. Speaking for the folks in one of my bands, our families are spread out and our friends tend to be married w/ children and don't want to deal with babysitters, or our friends are also musicians that are also playing out. Therefore we have to rely on building a following strictly on our show/performance. The lead singers tend to go out and talk to audience members on breaks which unfortunately is something I rarely do.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool alot of our fans became our friends too. When people come up to us and tell us they really liked our show, we'll say thanks for the support and then maybe get a conversation going. I think it's good to do that with your audience especially, don't be a rockstar, connect with your audience. That will definately help your fan base grow. It's helped my band. - Caitlin
